Access Hacks
Access Hacks - do-it-yourself ways to make life more accessible for people with disabilities. Ones that aren't marked up 1000x by the "disability industry" but are open-sourced so anybody can construct them. This is Liz Henry's fantastic proposal for a general Access Hacks project. Spread the information!

oh, those ideas are wonderful!

you know how i keep saying to you, "if only i didn't live a planetary diameter away, i could fix/build such-and-such for you!" i can sew, make simple electronic/electrical devices, build small-scale stuff out of wood and/or spare parts... i'd LOVE to be able to do stuff for you! (curiously enough, i don't have any disabled friends who live anywhere near me - "anywhere near" being defined as "within an hour's drive or so".)

anyway, as a born tinkerer, i'm going to keep an eye on those ideas.

ooh thank you for that link! it's inspired me to start writing up stuff i'm hacking together, because it might be useful to someone else :) (like the geek-device mount for my chair made from $10 of aquarium parts instead of the $800 Daessy would want for something to do the same job!)

Skud introduced her to me at a party in Los Gatos. I think her partner is good friends with my old friend from Sydney, Rachel Chalmers, who Skud also knows well although I'm not sure how *they* met...

Yay for more photos. Can't wait to see them.
