Pwned by Cat
Mum took this on Sunday, it pretty much totally tells you who's in charge here:

Picture of Ricky lying on stomach on the bed with her hands each side of her head, Anekin cat sitting on her back looking very much in charge.

It seems to me that if my life were CSI, the cat would be yelling "Clear! Human has been completely subdued!" at this point...

All the best houses, I suspect!

BTW, I have adored your recent Twilightverse fic with the vamp/warewolf road trip - it's exactly the sort of stuff I had hoped the book would have in it. Don't recall if I've commented on it or not as my internet connection has been intermittent so mostly when I've been reading I haven't been able to comment ... and then I forget ... etc, you can guess :/. In any case, I have also skipped reading the new Twi book on your recommendation - I was thinking I probably wouldn't but if I had heard it was good I would have read it. I'll stick to the fic, thanks. I'm not a Romance fan usually anyway, and being raised on Asimov/Heinlein/Clarke/etc. (literally: my parents were SF fans, so I read battered-to-pieces first edition paperbacks) I really can't stand bad SF!

Hugs,
Ricky

I just wanted to say thanks! On the story. :-)

And actually, I wonder if you might like and hate (at once) the new book. It's got some interesting semi-SF ideas ... she just can't WRITE it very well. So yeah, that might really turn you off. Like you, I was sort of raised on SF because my brother loved it. My parents didn't, but I didn't like my mother's mystery novels until I was an adult. But I ran through my brother's SF in a MAJOR way. :-) And Meyer ... can't worldbuild to save her life. It's SO shallow. But even so, part of why I liked the 4th book WAS that it had some SF-y elements and less of the Romance. Some of the things the big fans of the first three books hated -- the pregnancy, for instance -- didn't but me. I thought it badly planned for, but in theory, interesting. Sorta like Mr. Spock does vampires. Ha.

Oi, I am *very* careful not to disturb him! :)

In this house, disturbing a sleeping cat is known to be a federal offence and, worse, bad manners.

Heh. If people were allowed near me with a camera, there would be millions of similar shots featuring myself and Lucy. :D

At the moment, she's occupying the foot of my bed (I'm sitting up to watch Antique's Roadshow), but I know that the minute I move to get a drink or visit the bathroom, she'll be up under the covers like a shot, oozing herself right over the middle of the electric blanket, leaving me to somehow position myself around her when I get back. Sigh.

They're lucky they take such good care of us ... ;)

I live alone but sleep in a double bed so I'm enough to be able to switch both sides on one side for them and one for me...
Sadly as I live alone there is no one to take pics of them and myself in the mornings.

I love the coldest bits of winter best because Ani snuggles me from under the covers then. Other times he tends to sit on top of the doona like he is now.

Actually, today he's helping to hold up the keyboard which is awfully handy and surprisingly ergonomic!

I keep meaning to get a photo of him being my mousepad, because that has amusement value, but if he's doing it I can't take the picture because of position so I'll have to shanghai somebody into helping :)

Cats just know they rule the household, and occasionally like to make sure we humans remember that too. My old cat, Tigger, years back when I lived at home I had a double bed and she used to sleep on it at night. How can one person get pushed out of a double bed by a cat? I don't know how she did it, but I was forever having to squeeze in around her.
Current cat (Slinky) mostly puts up with us humans pretending to be in charge, but every so often will just come and sit on you - wherever and however you are sat - and just go to sleep. She's also very vocal so every so often will demand her breakfast at 4am, or shout when she comes in from stalking around the garden so we know she's back in the house (around 3am, usually). Lovely girl!
Maizie.

oh, Ani-cat has gotten so big! and he's beautiful!

i actually didn't mind when Loki would lie on me, as long as i didn't need to get up right then. when he would lie on me, he'd purrrrrrrrrr, and it felt good. and, as you already know, the purring rumble not only feels good, it has actual healing properties. so obviously Ani is trying to help you.

give him a skritch from me, and tell him i said he's beautiful ;-D

Will do. Actually, he's gotten smaller lately - he's lost nearly 1kg so he's only just over what the vet says is a healthy weight now. This is very good!

i'd come over and snuggle both of you every day, if i lived closer...

Haha, that is hilarious!!
My cat is the non snuggly variety too. He'll sit on the bottom corner of my bed until my foot touches him, then he leaps off.

At the moment he is ignoring me. He has been doing that for over a week now.

Amen, twin :)

He's curled up between my knees at the moment ... I have an exercise where I put my feet together and knees apart (against the bed) - erm, lying on my back? It makes a diamond shape with a gap in the middle which he thinks is a perfect spot for him! He gets most annoyed if I move before he does.

Only thing better than a cat curled up with me is a child curled up with me. I get the idea you'd go along with that?

Yes I know the feeling Millie does the same to me each time I lie down Merlin (dog) comes on the bed first then just as I doze off Millie jumps up gives her kitty kisses then Sammie jumps on the bed so I wake up with fur babies all around me.

I was just looking at your entries and loving the Annicat photo when I realised that the comments on that entry are totally over the top!

People love warm, snugly animal or baby photos every time. They stir the emotions and make us feel happy and warm inside which is very very good for us.

More when you can...your Mum rocks...
